Hello from refugee-land.
Our offices in Lower Manhattan have no power, no water, limited internet... we are struggling. But we did not lose anything from flooding except time, so that's a blessing. All Pen Parentis volunteers and interns have checked in safe and sound as well.
We worry about Gae Polisner and her family, out on Long Island--we hear she is without power, possibly for weeks. Gae is scheduled to read on 11/13. We haven't heard back yet from our other readers, David Ebenbach and his family lives in DC, hopefully they missed the brunt of things; Patricia Dunn is also a New Yorker. We will let you know what we hear.
Unfortunately, we also do not know the status of our next event, since our hosts, the Andaz Wall Street is still assessing flood damage from the storm. We will keep everyone informed via mobile postings on Facebook and Twitter -- with announcements here when we have internet signal. We plan to make a decision by November 6th.
