No! Our Literary Salons are for EVERYONE. Try one!
(however: everyone we present on our stage is an author and a parent, so if you’ve published a book and want to read for us, take note of that.)

Of course not. Our Salons are open to everyone – so come join in the discussions!

However, if you are a writer and a parent and interested in becoming part of our community we would love to have you – just visit the Pen Parentis Membership page.

No problem! The authors will be reading from their newest work and books will be for sale by a local bookstore for signings. Discover a new author, meet them in person, enjoy yourself!

(if you DO want to read a book and discuss it with people in person – check out our new BOOK CLUB – open to all!)

Ours is readings. Drinks specials. Happy hour. Discussion. Networking. Signings. Elegant good fun.

Live literature, just around the corner.

Pen Parentis provides resources to authors who have kids. One such resource is the opportunity to present new work at this beautiful Literary Salon. If you know an author who has kids who might want to read at this reading series, please contact us. We are always looking for new talent.

Our Salons have always been free and open to the general public. A voluntary $10 donation is warmly appreciated.  We never want to turn people away because of need, but we rely on donations to keep this unique series going.

Our  events are funded in part by Poets & Writers with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.  We have an equally strong relationship with New York City and have won many Manhattan Community Arts Fund grants as well as grants from The Fund for Creative Communities.  The marvelous Sustainable Arts Foundation in California bestowed a generous grant to us when were were new, but now we receive funding from a combination of government, corporate and individual donors. We would so love it if you would add your name to our list of supporters! Just visit our donation page.
