The Literary Salon provides an elegant monthly platform for notable authors who are also parents to present new creative work to a diverse audience in a two hour event which concludes with an intimate Q&A and signings at the authors' discretion.
As you watch our acclaimed authors read from their work, feel free to enjoy top shelf drinks and small plate specials. Ask lots of questions. Meet your new agent or editor during our pre-show and intermission, or just catch up with fellow audience members. All authors who read at the Literary Salon are parents who write cutting-edge, award-winning, and critically-acclaimed fiction in a wide range of subjects, both popular and arcane. We invite you to stop by -- we welcome everyone -- you don't have to be a writer or a parent to enjoy our events. Signed books make great gifts!
The Pen Parentis Literary Salon is made possible in part with public funds from the Manhattan Community Arts Fund, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

Events also funded in part by Poets & Writers, Inc. with public funds from The New York State Council of the Arts, a state agency.
No problem! The authors will be reading from their newest work and books will be for sale by a local bookstore for signings. Discover a new author, meet them in person, enjoy yourself!
Ours is readings. Drinks specials. Happy hour. Discussion. Networking. Signings. Elegant good fun.
Live literature, just around the corner.
Pen Parentis provides resources to authors who have kids. One such resource is the opportunity to present new work at this beautiful Literary Salon. If you know an author who has kids who might want to read at this reading series, please contact us. We are always looking for new talent.
