What is Andaz?

To our great delight, in August 2012, Pen Parentis was invited to partner with the luxury hotel Andaz Wall Street. Andaz recently launched the brand-wide Andaz Salon series. The Andaz Salon was created to foster cultural exploration and creativity from art exhibits to culinary emersions, performances by emerging musicians and celebration of the written word.
Each Andaz Salon is designed to reflect the local scene through the eyes of leading cultural arbitrators–and that’s where we came in! The new home of the New York City Pen Parentis Salon series is the Andaz Wall Street, 75 Wall Street. We are delighted to join hands with this community-friendly brand to broaden the reach of our Salons. Join us at the next one — see for yourself why the Andaz brand is known for hitting the unique creative vibe within each neighborhood where its boutique hotels find a home.

What is Pen Parentis?

Pen Parentis provides resources to authors who have kids. One such resource is the opportunity to present new work at this beautiful Literary Salon. If you know an author who has kids who might want to read at this reading series, please contact us. We are always looking for new talent.

What is a literary salon?

Ours is readings. Drinks specials. Happy hour. Discussion. Networking. Signings. Elegant good fun.

Live literature, just around the corner.

What if I haven’t read the books?

No problem! The authors will be reading from their newest work and books will be for sale by a local bookstore for signings. Discover a new author, meet them in person, enjoy yourself!

(if you DO want to read a book and discuss it with people in person – check out our new BOOK CLUB – open to all!)

Do I have to be a member?

Of course not. Our Salons are open to everyone – so come join in the discussions!

However, if you are a writer and a parent and interested in becoming part of our community we would love to have you – just visit the Pen Parentis Membership page.

Do I have to be an author or a parent?

No! Our Literary Salons are for EVERYONE. Try one!
(however: everyone we present on our stage is an author and a parent, so if you’ve published a book and want to read for us, take note of that.)
