Author’s Bio

Elizabeth Pagel-Hogan is a writing mom on the run. She lives in Pittsburgh, PA where things come in threes, like rivers, kids and sports like triathlons. As a runner and triathlete, she relies on tough workouts to spark ideas. As a mom, she knows the value of humor and patience. Her children are 11, 8, and 6.
After earning her Masters in American History, she wowed school audiences with science programs. Now a full-time writer, Elizabeth loves to blend real science into her stories along with a touch of magic.
She writes fiction and non-fiction for adults but her favorite readers are children. Her stories and articles have appeared in Highlights for Children, AppleSeeds, Odyssey and Faces. She is an active member of SCBWI and recently won recognition as a “Promising Writer” in the Western PA chapter. She has three self-published books, including My Food Notebook & The Bumpy, Grumpy Road, available on Amazon. She is actively submitting her first middle grade novel to agents and working on her second.
When she’s not training for triathlons or testing her fears, she hosts school and community workshops. Inspired by her work with non-profits, she co-created the Summer Brain Food project, a program that brings authors and illustrators to summer food sites for kids in Pittsburgh.
