Author’s Bio
Max Watman is the author of Chasing the White Dog: An Amateur Outlaw’s Adventures in Moonshine (Simon and Schuster, 2010), which was well received in the New York Times Sunday Book Review and Race Day: Spot on the Rail with Max Watman (Ivan R. Dee, 2005). Both were chosen for the Editors’ Choice list in the New York Times Book Review.
A master storyteller, Max’s most recent book, Harvest, was also favorably reviewed by the New York Times.
Max was the horse racing correspondent for the New York Sun and has written for various publications on books, music, food, and drink. After many collegial adventures, he earned a BA at VCU in Richmond VA, and an MFA from Columbia University in NYC. In 2008, the National Endowment for the Arts awarded Max a literary fellowship. He was raised in the mountains of Virginia and the kitchens of Washington D.C. He lives in the Hudson Valley with his wife and son.
