Olga Lucia Torres has been sick her entire life: starting with a pediatric pituitary adenoma, later developing arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, Raynaud’s disease, Sjogren’s Syndrome, then suffering a devastating brain injury that left her disabled.
As a first-generation Latina, one of the eight founding lawyers of the Bronx defenders, and professor of narrative medicine at Columbia University, Olga Lucia Torres now identifies as an advocate, survivor, and mother of a miracle daughter. She’s been published in the New York Times, New York Daily News, amNY, and is a freelance writer for Popsugar.com.
She’s currently working on her memoir about how to live well with health problems. You can find Olga’s writing at www.olgaluciatorres.com.
